At the global and European level, many initiatives demonstrate a shared interest in thinking together. They include the Global Summit of national ethics committees (which will meet again in Paris on September 1 and 2, 2008) and the Permanent Conference of European Ethics Committees..

For its 20th anniversary, the CCNE organised an international bioethics symposium on the topic: "From Gene to Human".

In addition to these meetings between national ethics committees, the dialogue on ethics also involves:

• UNESCO’s International Bioethics Committee

• The Council of Europe’s Bioethics Steering Committee

• The EU’s advisory Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies 

These international bodies aim to go beyond borders to analyse the ethical stakes linked to the progress of science. The CCNE regularly takes part in their work.
